Song Title: Of Age
Artist: The Rotaries
Album: Before Leaving
The Rotaries are an indie-rock band from New York. Being a band that draws heavy influence from acts such as Paul Simon and The Strokes, they always know how to make a heart-warmingly catchy song. This track is a great example of that.
“Of Age” is probably The Rotaries’ most dance-filled track. It just jumps right in with this bouncy drum beat with a complementing fluid bass-line. I can’t help but nod my head or tap my feet when listening to this track. The guitar on this track has an interesting sound during the verses as well. It almost doesn’t even sound like a guitar, in fact, it reminds me of those little bubble popping games for some reason.
My favorite part of this track is definitely the ending half of the song. The Rotaries fully unleash themselves in a no-holds-barred, powerful conclusion. With choir-like vocal melodies, drums with a ton of energy, and guitar that soars across the beat. Though if I had a gripe about this song, it’d be that I wish that the part that started during the last ten seconds of the track went on for a tiny bit longer.
The Rotaries recently got some mention, along with a bunch of other Purchase buddies, over at Portals (which is definitely an a lot more thought-out and generally better music blog then this). I’m so psyched on them, ever since I heard them play at an apartment show at school I’ve really enjoyed their stuff. This blog probably is way too Purchase-band-related, but oh well.
